The Twelve, is a piece of artwork drawing inspiration from life experiences and The Word of God. The artwork was created in dedication to the Walk With Me men’s retreat.

The Walk With Me annual retreat is men taking time to get together, praise, worship, pray, break bread, and dig into scripture. Time is allotted for exploring the challenges each man is individually facing whether they be spiritual, financial, marital, vocational, parental etc., and time is also spent celebrating the victories of life as believers. Members of the Body of Christ should not be alone with their life challenges, they should fellowship with other believers in all they do. The retreat began in 2016 and inspired servant first attended in 2018. Two years later and after some discussion with group leadership, inspired servant created artwork on canvas and an image was inked onto T-shirts. The tradition had been established.

As you enjoy watching the creative process, ask yourself which of “The Twelve” men in the painting do you most identify with? Are you the man reaching out to lend a hand to your fellow man? Are you the one grabbing the hand offered? If you gravitate towards smaller groups, maybe you are one of the men in the three-man group. If you are more comfortable with opening up to an accountability partner, maybe you are one of the men paired off. If you often find yourself feeling alone while surrounded by others, perhaps you identify with the lone figure in the middle of the painting.

Since its inception, each Walk With Me retreat has been centered around a theme. The artwork for the fifth annual retreat (2020) was conceived from inspired servant’s previous retreat experiences (2018, 2019). Those experiences (praise, worship, prayer, fellowshipping) in combination with how the twelve apostles have impacted the world (following Jesus’ ascension) shaped the concept of “The Twelve.” On any given day and depending on the situation, inspired servant has found himself identifying with each of the twelve men in the painting.
